Aakash has been in midst of lot of controversy since the time it launched way back in 2010.  Many critics had cast their doubts on this initiative and had called it a complete mess. We had exclusively carried an official MHRD clarification on Aakash Tablet earlier this year.
The Aakash 2 device has been developed under the Aegis of IIT Mumbai and were supported by C-DAC in Pune. The manufacturing of Aakash 2 was done by Datawind, the same contractor who produced first version of Aakash as well.
According to Datawind CEO, initially 1 lakh Aakash 2 tablets will be provided to students of Engineering colleges and subsequently will be provided to other students as well.
However, for more eager ones who want to get their hands of Aakash 2, can go for commercial version which is available on Datawind’s site for Rs. 3500/-.
We are trying to get our hands on Aakash 2 for review purposes, so if we do manage to do that, we will surely put up a video review of this much talked about device.
